Pervaded by the Mittelland Canal, you'll find the community Recke in a soft rolling park landscape at the slopes of the Teutoburg Forest. Here, high up in the Münsterland, near Osnabrück, there are expansive fields and woods, which are ideal for walks.

Not only for the history interested visitors are the Protestant church from the 9th-century and the local and basket museum 'Alte Ruthemühle' a must. Slightly hidden, in the village Steinbeck, is the lime kiln Wessling situated, an interesting and a unique industrial monument. There are two large nature reserves in Recke's surrounding area : 'Recker Moor' and 'Heiliges Meer'. Natur experience, which are hard to find today.
For water sports friends, we recommend the yachting harbour Marina Recke, which was inaugurated in 1998. It is situated at the Mittelland Canal and ca. 70 berths.

The sulphur spa Steinbeck with its state approved mineral spring is not only recommended for medicinal purposes. It is open to all people who want to enjoy the 34C warm sulphur spring.
