The ALVA-Sculpture Park is a continuous growing project of the town marketing association Offensive Lengerich. In its consequent modern design, it ties consciously in on the tradition of local gardens and parks, connects the LWL-Clinic with the Helios Clinic and is part of the landscape and nature resort 'am Kleeberg'. The letter combination 'Alva' refers to the Latin sentence 'Ars longa, vita aeterna' and means roughly 'Art lasts for a long time, life forever'. Directly at the crossing from the shady graveyard to the expansive countryside Jupp Ernst exhibits its sculpture 'Vanitas vanitatis' (by medieval understanding: the futility of all earthly striving). Since 2006, one is able to experience all its intended changing and decaying process.

If you follow the path further, a labyrinth with its meanderings, invites you to use quiet concentrated steps. Then you enter through one of the three gates the 'Lengericher Garden Project'. It was designed in the course of the Sculpture-Biennale Münsterland 2001, under the guidance of the well-known American artist Ronald Jones. Modelled after an idea of the paradise garden, he designed the garden with the help of patients of the LWL-Clinic and Lengericher citizens as living communal effort. The staircase sculpture offers a formal contrast and a splendid view into the Münsterland. At the end of the path, turn left and follow the path left into the small wood. Discover the 'Kartenhaus' by Heinrich von den Driesch, which was constructed in 2007.

In close proximity is the old graveyard situated with its old tree population and forms with the prettily restored cemetery chapel a charming contrast to the modern sculpture garden.
