An idea and a competition stand at the start of this project. On the occasion of its 60-year existence in the year 2006, the daily newspaper 'Westfälische Nachrichten' ran a competition with the motto 'Encourage Ideas'. One winning project came from Lengerich and was planned, created and implemented by the Stadtmarketingverein 'Offensive Lengerich'. The 'Generation Park Gempt', situated between the event location Gempt-Halle and bordering senior centre Gempt, at the former industrial area, is meant to get, across generations young and old moving, in the truest sense of the word. Apart from rest areas with seating, multi-functional play equipment with the themes, skill and movement for all ages, a boules court, an action field as well as staircase to the Gempt-Bistro. On the south side a covered platform is planned. The park's centre has a large lawn framed by flower islands, which has mobile seatings to enjoy sunbathing. Different events fill the park, also with life. Outdoor gastronomy between Bistro staircase and boules court ensure that you don't go hungry.
